ABOUT

David GAREL is a French self-taught artist whose practice has naturally evolved from sound to painting.

Working across different forms, his research is rooted in minimalism, repetition, rhythm and vibration.

Painting became the place where these ideas could take physical form. Through Op Art and kinetic painting, he explores light, perception and movement, constructing geometric compositions whose visual effects emerge through the viewer's own displacement.

Sound remains an independent but related part of his practice. Some paintings are accompanied by original electronic compositions, conceived as a complementary experience rather than a soundtrack to the work.

Based in Nantes, France.
